St Patrick’s Day “Paddy on the Green” Festival

Saturday March 17th  12 pm to 4 pm 

Show your green for a total shamrock-lucky-iconimmersion into an Irish experience, don’t miss the St. Patrick’s Day Irish Festival at Lafayette Village in Raleigh on Saturday, March 19th from Noon to 4 pm.

Offering an entertaining, fun-fulled peek into the Irish Culture. Enjoy music, food, ad fun for the entire family!

While we can’t promise you a pot of Gold, you’ll be sure to find treasures in our Village shops!

Historic Interpretations, Inc Presents

Irish Myths & Legends – Characters from Irish mythology take some time to share legends and stories with young attendees. St. Patrick himself will even make the rounds throughout the day.

Music & Dance – Our music and dance groups will present 30 minute presentations of traditional Irish folk music and dances. The demonstrations will include audience participatory folk dances.

Scriptorium – Learn to write with a quill pen, color an illuminated letter, and learn about manuscripts and how the Irish helped to save civilization.

Irish Quest – Young adventurers will journey throughout Lafayette Village to gather clues and treasure to complete the quest and earn a token and certificate!

The Tavern at the Sign of the Oak & Acorn – Visit our recreated British tavern where you can learn all about pastimes in the days when iPhones and PSP’s didn’t yet exist. Games of chance and skills are taught, and outdoor historic games on the lawn are also available for family play. Hear Irish folktales and stories in our replica 20’ x 20’ medieval pavilion.

Enchanted Wishes – “Enchantment Behind Every Wish” stop by and see your favorite princess and super hero! Hear a story or play a game. 

Fairy Hair Flare – Enhance your mane with shimmery silky strands by Leslie and Syntheia.

Brass Rubbings – Young guests can create their own brass rubbings at our crafts tent.

Face Painting – Painting by Funtastic Painter, Valerie, to raise funds to benefit leukemia and lymphoma cancer research.

French Market & Seafood Festival

Saturday April 21st  12 pm to 4 pm  

Join us Saturday, April 21st, from 12 pm to 4 pm for a total immersion into New Orleans. Enjoy the jazzy sounds as you stroll through the Village for a French Quarter inspired experience and enjoy shopping in our Village shops . Get a glimpse of the artists in action as they paint, draw, and design masterpieces in the corridors of the Village. Of course it wouldn’t be New Orleans without tasty seafood, from craw-fish to shrimp the food will be plentiful and the beer will be flowing. So join us for a fun-filled day of music, art, food and shopping!

Rhythm Journey: Offers personalized instruction for all ages and levels in Ballroom, Latin, and Social dances such as:

  • Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz
  • Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing, Mambo, Bolero, Samba, Paso Doble
  • Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Kizomba

They also create customized packages to help you prepare for a special events, such as a wedding or quinceañeras.

Lessons and events are held at various locations around the Research Triangle, NC area.

Down to Earth Aerials: Our aerialist is renowned for thrilling audiences with high-energy and tightly choreographed aerial silks displays.

Cocktails DemonstrationAmerica’s first cocktail, the Sazerac, was created in New Orleans. Learn more about this and other amazing cocktails along with recipes that can go home with patrons. Cheers!

Shrimp Etoufee-black tiger shrimp simmered low and slow with bell peppers, julienne onions, and toasted garlic in a lightly spiced shrimp and tomato broth served over jasmine rice.
Southern Craft Butchers: Shrimp Po’Boy Sandwiches and Shrimp and Grits in the courtyard.

Calling all Wieners for our Annual Wiener Dog Races sponosored by NextHome rare Properties! Races are at noon, 1 pm and 2 pm that day. The fee to enter is $15 for first wiener with a $3 dollar sibling discount. The Wiener Race is a charitable Event organized to help raise awareness and donations for local animal advocate groups and to have fun doing so. As such, none of the following will be allowed: No political campaigning, no selling of animals of any kind, no possession of firearms on site or consumption of drugs or alcohol and no gambling.

Lighting of the Tree

Ready to kick off that Holiday Spirit? We are on during our spectacular Tree Lighting ceremony in North Raleigh’s Lafayette Village. There’s is sure to be something for everyone during this event and Good old St. Nick will light our Tree in the Courtyard at the stroke of 5:30 pm!

Carolers, a visit from Santa, dance scene from the Nutcracker, special performances from local schools, and dozens of specials from village merchants will be sure to get you into the Holiday spirit.

Take a stroll through the village grounds, enjoy music or take a ride around the village by horse and carriage, drop off and pick up located just outside The Chocolate Boutique! Visits to Lafayette Village merchants are a must, especially with offers that make food and beverages hard to resist and provide a wide variety of gift ideas for your Holiday shopping.
